4/4

Once upon a time, there was a woman of slight stature with a head of beautiful red hair. She lived in a teeny town in the deep south, and she was very, very pregnant. While out running the types of errands that most moms-to-be tackle up until the very last minute, she was involved in a fender-bender. With a bread truck. The slight collision sent her into labor, and she was rushed to the hospital, where it was soon discovered that her baby was positioned breech. Not an easy task, but this gritty lady delivered a healthy baby girl on April 1st. No April Foolin'.

A few years later, that healthy baby girl was happily married and pregnant with her second child. Strangely enough this baby's due date was.... April 1st. However, this unborn child was already expressing a strong opposition to doing what she was told and stubbornly remained in her cozy place for another three days. She wasn't coming out on the 1st. Nor the 2nd. Or even the 3rd. So there.

On the 4th of April, she made her appearance with lungs ablaze and fists flailing. It was said by her parents that she did a great job of letting everyone know the injustice of it all. The red hair she was born with eventually fell out and was replaced with flaxen locks, but the fiery temperament remained. And then some.

Therein lies the story of the birth of Oob. In a few short hours she will have entered the definitive yet nebulous stage of the "late twenties". Nondescript, yet still poignant enough to make her think...

Am I thirty yet?

Enjoy the 20s while you have them. I've been in my 30s for 10 days now and so far I have nothing good to report. ;-)

Happy birthday!!!

My immediate thought is: "there's way too much July hanky-panky in that family.." and my second is: "Thankfully, there's July hank-panky in that family." A most happy day to you.

Happy Birthday Hon!!! I wish you a year of joy, happiness and all the good stuff :-)

FYI, 30's aren't so bad. You "get" a lot more things in your life.

I was told by a friend once that "It all happens when you're 28." My year is turning out pretty darn good so far, but just in case it sours, the same friend later revised it to, "Oh wait, it all happens when you're 32!"

Not having internet for a week made me WAY behind in reading blogs . . . so BIG LATE B'day wishes to you Oob! :)

I have gained more confidence and sense of self each year since hitting 28. It's actually all UPHILL (as opposed people saying "downhill") from here. Trust an old lady on this. :)

HAPPY (BELATED) BIRTHDAY!
